Mayor Hancock was on hand today for the grand re-opening of the old Neighborhood House as a local home for the University of Denver’s Bridge Project. Founded in 1902 under the slogan, “Love thy neighbor as thyself “, the Neighborhood House Association provided West Denver with public services and gathering spaces. The current building at Mariposa and W 13th Ave was constructed in 1927 and dedicated “to the physical, mental, and moral care of young children, the development of youth, and to the sympathetic helpfulness of burdened parenthood.” Over the decades it has served as a daycare and a Latino cultural center but has lately been vacant for years. We are thrilled to see it restored both in form and function and have it as a vibrant part of Lincoln Park. IMG_9179.JPG
